World Liberty Financial’s plan for a federally chartered national trust bank has made stablecoin governance a front-page policy issue.

Reports say Abu Dhabi royal Sheikh Tahnoon bin Zayed al Nahyan backed the venture with a $500 million investment connected to a 49% stake, while USD1 has a reported market value around $4 billion.

The case matters for the whole sector because stablecoins are moving closer to banking infrastructure, where ownership, reserves, custody and political conflicts receive heavier scrutiny.
